2015 Team Canada Letter of Intent
Please note 43i to 43s is for the Universal Team

Section 43 – QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEAM CANADA WUSV Mandatory as of 2012, All Competitors must have a minimum of 80 points in each phase, and a minimum of 250 points total to enter.
43(a) It is the handler’s responsibility to send in the Letter of Intent (as found in Shepherd Sports) to your Regional Chairperson as well as the Team Canada Coordinator.
43(b) Handler must submit the Letter of Intent in writing postmarked by July 1st preceding the Canadian GSD Championships.
43(c) The team must compete at a Regional Championship successfully at a IPO 3 level with the same dog within the same calendar year.
43(d) The dog must be pronounced at both the Regional and Canadian GSD Championships in protection.
43(e) The top five (5) GSD teams pronounced in protection at the Canadian GSD Championships will be chosen to Team Canada. Should one of the top five decline, then the opportunity will be given to the next qualifying score in descending order until the five positions are filled.
43(f) Special exemptions are no longer allowed.
43(g) Handlers must be a member in good standing of the GSSCC for the 24 months preceding the date of application for the team.
43(h) Handlers must be a verifiable resident of Canada.
43(i) Handlers must be able to provide proof of residency upon request to the WUSV Executive. QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEAM CANADA (UNIVERSAL TEAM)
43(j) It is the handlers responsibility to send in the Letter of Intent (as found in Shepherd Sports and on the GSSCC website) to your Regional chairperson as well as the Team Canada Coordinator.
43(k) Handler must submit the Letter of Intent in writing, postmarked by July 1st preceding the Canadian GSD Championships.
43(l) The team must compete at a Regional Championship at an IPO 3 level with the same dog within the same calendar year as the Canadian GSD Championships. The dog must also compete in a Regional Show in the same calendar year, and receive a minimum G rating.
43(m) The dog must receive a pronounced rating at and during the most current trials listed below 1. Any of the GSSCC Regional Championships 2. The most recent Canadian GSD Championship 3. The most recent Canadian GSD Sieger Show
43(n) Three (3) dog/handler teams will make up the GSSCC Universal Team. The top male and top female as determined by the Universal formula will form the GSSCC Universal Team. The 3rd team member position will be filled by using the Universal formula. Should one of the top three decline, then the opportunity will be given to the next qualifying dog, male or female, in descending order until the three positions are filled. Dogs must receive a minimum G rating in the Sieger show to qualify.
43(o) Special exemptions are not allowed.
43(p) Handlers must be a member in good standing of the GSSCC for the three (3) years preceding the date of application for the team.
43(q) Handler must be a verifiable resident of Canada.
43(r) Handlers must be able to provide proof of residency upon request to the WUSV Executive.
43(s) Any Handler/dog team competing at the WUSV World Universal Championship, that cannot compete at their regional trial or show, because the date of the regional trial or show is within 2 weeks of the WUSV World Universal competition, can apply to the GSSCC board of directors for the following exemption: -The handler can apply to the GSSCC board to use the show or trial rating/score obtained at that year’s WUSV World Universal to replace the requirement of a regional trial or show as a team qualifier. – The handler is still responsible to pay show and trial entries to regional trial and show.
Section 43 – QUALIFICATION FOR TEAM CANADA (FCI IPO3) It is recommended that applicants for the Team Canada FCI IPO3 World Championship, familiarize themselves with all GSSCC rules and policies prior to submitting a letter of intent.
43(s) It is the handler’s responsibility to send a Letter of Intent (as found in Shepherd Sports or on http://www.gsscc.ca) to your Regional Chairperson as well as the GSSCC Team Canada Coordinator, stating your intentions to compete in the FCI IPO3 World Championships if qualified and selected. Handlers must submit the Letter of Intent in writing postmarked by July 1st preceding the Canadian GSD Championships.
43(t) The top five (5) dog/handler teams with a passing score and a pronounced rating in protection at the Canadian GSD Championships that have applied and qualified for the FCI World Championship Team will be selected for Team Canada. Should one of the top five decline, the opportunity will be given to the next qualifying applicant in descending order until the five positions are filled.
43(u) Handlers must be a member in good standing of the GSSCC preceding the date of application for the team and in the same year they intend to compete at the FCI IPO3 World Championships.
43(v) Handlers must be a verifiable resident of Canada.
43(w) Handlers must be able to provide proof of Canadian residency to the FCI Executive upon request.
43(x) Handlers must be a member in good standing of the CKC or their (breeds) respective CKC breed club, i.e. the German Shepherd Dog Club of Canada and provide proof of membership with their letter of intent.
43(y) Dogs must be registered as purebred with the CKC and be a breed recognized by the FCI for the FCI IPO3 World Championships. If the CKC does not yet recognize a member’s breed of dog, but it is recognized by the FCI then the dog must be registered with a recognized breed club.
